Dr. Trevor and I sit down for a conversation about training with symptoms. We both have a passion for keeping folks healthy, and in the gym, which is vital for someone to progress through the stages of healing.
Just like priming a lawnmower, sometimes we need a little warm-up to get ourselves going.
Be mindful of numbers, while not getting caught up in numbers when it comes to your training and symptom onset is important. Every body is different and there are many contributing variables at play for someone's symptom experience.
Workouts can be a balancing act when managing symptoms. Listen to your body and find that sweet spot where your symptoms don't increase, or increase 1-2 points on a 10 point scale, from baseline during or after your session. That's when you know you've hit the perfect amount of exercise for you!

Jaden and I sit down to discuss some key aspects folks new to the western hunting tag application system should consider.
Exploring hunting units from the comfort of your own home thanks to some creative e-scouting techniques. Virtual tours and online resources have been a key for planning western adventures.
Developing a plan to execute is important to save money and time during the application season, and during the hunting season to make the most out of your spring, summer, and fall hunting trips. Multiple birds with one stone is always a good idea.

Another resource we talked about was Hunt Reminder to ensure you don't miss deadlines during the spring craziness of application season.
Jaden's Hunt West Weekly Digest is definitely worth the subscription. Be sure to subscribe to his newsletter.
If you need some scouting tips, here's a free resource Jaden was kind enough to include as well. Learn How to Find Hunting Spots

Diaphragmatic breathing has a lot to do with someone's overall pain experience. Whether it's low back pain, neck pain, pain after surgery, chronic pain, or any kind of pain; breathing can greatly influence the brain's perception of what you're doing or what position your body is in for the better or worse. Proper breathing technique will enhance your cardio performance for your workouts to make you a better mountain hunter. Belly breathing will also give you more available air to hit those high bugle tones, and physiologically calm down your heart rate when you have to make the shot.

On this episode, I sit down with MAF owner, founder, and CEO; Brandon Waddell to discuss what Mountain Archery Fest is, all each event has to offer, and the family friendly environment he creates at these events.

Brandon comes from a large family, so he 100% understands what's it's like to have a passion for something that tends to pull husbands, fathers, wives, and moms away from the rest of the family. He created Mountain Archery Fest to encourage the whole family to attend so both the passion, and the family time, needs are met.
Archery truly is a sport that can be played across the lifespan.
Give this episode a listen. Once you've finished, you'll want to look up the closest event to you to bring the family! If you make it to the Antelope Butte, WY event, I may see you there!
Check out their list of events!

Jaden and I first met at the Antelope Butte, Mountain Archery Fest event in Wyoming a few years ago. He started a company, HuntsWest, to teach folks how to plan and logistically prepare for a western hunting adventure. Jaden is a wealth of knowledge. He and I sit down to briefly highlight what he does. He will definitely be a guest back on the podcast in the near future!
In the meantime, shoot him a message on Instagram or an email if you have questions!

Born out of the passion for fitness, archery, and hunting, BMAC has been a steadily growing event in the midwest. Now with 5 events, Brian has grown BMAC into several different styles of archery to help prepare the flat-landers for the rugged terrain the west has to offer. Starting in January, the Quiver Shiver is the first event of the year to kick things off. Then in April, the Endurance event is an 8 hour challenge to physically and mentally test your willingness to dig deep. BMAC has two traditionally archery events throughout the summer, and one multi-day "games" style event to cap things off as we head into fall.
